Midwest Flooding

USHEALTH Group and its subsidiary insurance companies, Freedom Life Insurance Company of America and National Foundation Life Insurance Company, recognize the immense challenge facing those whose lives were impacted by the extensive flooding in the Midwest. In response, USHEALTH Group has issued special emergency measures to assist its customers with health plan benefit and premium payment matters which may arise on the road to recovery.

Effective immediately, the following accommodations have been made for our insureds in those counties proclaimed disaster areas by State Executive Order or by Presidential declaration due to the Midwest flooding:
  • Extended grace periods and flexible payment terms will be available for insurance premium payment – No health plan will be cancelled for non-payment of premium for a period of 60 days;

  • Penalties for not pre-certifying medical treatment will not apply on services provided through August 18, 2008;

  • USHEALTH Group will work with healthcare providers to readily provide health plan information and coverage eligibility;

  • Special consideration will be granted for claims from out-of-network healthcare providers when access to an in-network provider is not possible - These claims will be considered at the in-network benefit level for a period of 60 days.;

  • Extended time will be granted for filing claims; and

  • Extended time will be granted for receiving additional information requested on open or pended claims.
